I would recommend reading Acts 15 and the book of Galatians.  This was an issue in the early church.  There were Christians who were Jews prior to becoming a Christian who felt than any Gentile must first become a Jew before becoming a Christian.  This meant that anyone wishing to be a Christian must first be circumcised.  This was the issue in Acts 15.  In the end, Gentiles were not required to be circumcised.  The book of Galatians deals with this:

"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.  Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.  And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law. You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.  For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love (Gal 5:1-6)."

According to this passage, if you are circumcised to try and be right with God, then you become severed from Christ.  We are not saved by the law because the law cannot save anyone.  We are saved by the grace of God through Christ.  Circumcision is not what counts, but faith working through love.

Circumcision along with the rest of the law concerning sacrifices, the tabernacle, incense burning, and other such things have been fulfilled in Christ and therefore we are no longer under those things.

"But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promise (Heb 8:6)."

Jesus inaugurated a better covenant.  We are not longer under the Old Covenant, the Old Testament, which included among other things, circumcision.
