Is reincarnation biblical? - Lawrence

The Bible does not teach that after people die, their soul comes back to this earth in another person or animal. The Bible says, "it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment (Heb. 9:27)."

The Bible does teach that our souls will be reunited with a new body. The Bible compares our burial to planting a seed (1 Cor 15:37). The day will come when God raises the dead, and will provide a new body. Like a plant that is different than the seed, the new body that God will provide will not be like the body we have now. It will be an imperishable body (1 Cor 15:42). But this will not happen until the final coming of Christ (1 Cor 15:52). When Christ returns, the Bible tells us that the entire universe will be destroyed (2 Pet 3:12). God will create a new universe (1 Pet 3:13).

We don't know when this will happen. The Bible tells us it will come like a thief in the night (2 Pet 3:10). Many will be unprepared and will not live in the new place that God prepared, but will spend eternity in Hell, away from the presence of God (2 Thess 1:7-10).

The important question is this, where will our new body will spend eternity? Will it be Heaven or Hell? The answer to that question is determined by what you do now. We must accept Jesus as savior and Lord. How? By repenting, which means turning from your way of life, and living a life for Christ (Acts 2:38), and by baptism, which is a demonstration of your faith in Jesus as risen Lord (Col 2:12). If you have any further questions, please write or e-mail.
