Is it wrong for a Christian to use such words as "heck" or "darn?"

---------

Two things to consider on this one.  First of all, what is in your heart when you say these words?  It is not only about what you say, but how you say it.

"But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.  For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders (Matt 15:18-19)."

The second thing to consider is how it will affect other people?  Will they be offended by what you say?

"Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.  Let your speech always be with grace, {as though} seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person (Col 4:5-6)."

With these general principles, you should be able to determine what your speech should be like.  Even though the words you mentioned are not cuss words, nor do they take the name of God in vain, they still might be offensive to some people.
