What is grace, faith and works?

---------

Grace means favor.  When God shows favor to someone without regard to whether someone deserves it or not, that is grace.  When we show grace to someone, we show them favor and acceptance without regard to whether they deserve it or not.

Faith means several things.  It means belief.  But it is not mere mental assent.  It also involves active trust.  So when one believes in Jesus Christ, he not only believes that he came, died for sins, and was resurrected , but also lives a life of faithful trust and obedience to him.

If by works your question is how they fit in with faith, James 2 makes this very clear.  Works are a demonstration of faith.  The way one has faith is to be trusting and faithful, which can only be demonstrated by faithful works and action.
