What is Your Opinion on someone being gay?

---------

I don't have an "opinion" on this, but I do have a strong conviction that comes from the word of God.

That conviction comes from passages such as these:

"Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.  For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.  For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.  And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper" (Rom 1:24-28),

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor {the} covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.  Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God" (1 Cor 6:9-11).

In the Old Testament, God's people were instructed in this way:

" 'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.  'Also you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion" (Lev 18:22-23)."

" 'If {there is} a man who commits adultery with another man's wife, one who commits adultery with his friend's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.  'If {there is} a man who lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.   'If {there is} a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.  'If {there is} a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them" (Lev 20:10-13).

Abomination is such a strong word.  It means disgusting.  There are behaviors that are abominable to God, which include such things a beastality and homosexuality.  God clearly condemns this behavior.  Those who become Christian, according to the 1 Corinthian passage, have been washed and sanctified, or "set apart."  They are set apart for God to serve him, which means they are no longer to engage in this behavior.  God's ideal from Genesis 1-3 is for a man and a woman to be married, not men and men, or men and beasts, or women and women.  The Bible is clear and without ambiguity on this.

One should keep in mind that homosexuals are not a lost cause and that God loves them the same as everyone else.  He offers repentance and salvation to them as much as he does the one who has committed adultery.  What needs to happen is for the person who comes to God to cease in homosexual activity just as the man who commits adultery is to cease in that as well.
