Cornelius in the Neighborhood
John Telgren

Cornelius was a God-fearer. Even though he was not a Jew, he prayed to God and did good deeds as a God-fearing man. Then one day as he was praying, God sent an angel to him that said, "Cornelius, God has hear your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor. Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter…" (Acts 10:31-32). So he sent for Peter and was ready for Peter to relay everything that God had commanded for Peter to tell him.

God Fearers in our Neighborhoods?

Imagine how many people may have been praying as Cornelius prayed. Imagine how many people are God fearers and how many want to know what God wants of them. What does God do? He sends his church. That is you and I. We are God's church who is charged to be the light of the world, the pillar and support of truth, and the body of Christ. This is central to the church's mission and purpose. This is why we are here. This is about learning to fulfill our mission. There is no better way to learn than by doing.

Teens are great…

One of the things that the I have found over the years is that some of the greatest evangelists have been teens. Whether they go out with someone as silent partners, share the Gospel with a friend, or talk to a complete stranger, there is a dynamic positive energy that teens possess that have made them great soul winners. Are adults a model for teens, or will teens be a model for the adults? It has worked both ways.

Prayer.

Everything we do needs to be bathed in prayer. There are many opportunities that God sends our way. We just need to pray for them and pray that God open our eyes to see them as they come.
